67a Tolastadh bho Thuath

67a North Tolsta was a 3/4-acre piece of ground given to Donald Macleod, in 1853, after he lost the croft at 7 North Tolsta. It is located behind Westview, North Tolsta and beside 67 North Tolsta: although that croft was not created until 1857. Donald settled there with his wife, Christina Smith, and their children: George, Alexander and Kenneth. The couple had a daughter, Barbara who died around the year of the move. They went on to have two further children: John and Donald. Their youngest son's first wife was from 4 Portnaguran and in due course 67a North Tolsta passed to Allan Macdonald, who had also married a woman from 4 Portnaguran.

Allan Macdonald of 1 North Tolsta married Christina Maclean of 4 Portnaguran and they had seven children: Ann Kate, John, Ann, Margaret, Effie, William and Christina. In due course 67a North Tolsta passed to their eldest daughter, Ann Kate.

Ann Kate Macdonald married John Macdonald (known as Hector) and they had seven children: Margaret, Margaret, Allan, Murdo, William, Christina and Ann. In 1921 the family obtained 35 Gress,

Sometime later 67a North Tolsta passed to Angus Nicolson of Struan House, whose wife was a first cousin of Ann Kate Macdonald. In 1969 its status was formalised as that of an allotment, as opposed to a croft, and it was later reclassified as 83b North Tolsta. After Angus Nicolson’s death, it passed to his daughter, Peggy, who lived in Glasgow.
