107897: 21 North Tolsta

21 North Tolsta was a new croft in 1851. The first occupants were widow, Christina Macleod and her children. Christina's husband, John Martin, had died approximately six years before, while the family were living at 33 Old South Tolsta.

After the death of Christina Macleod in 1864, the croft was divided between her son, Duncan Martin, who obtained 21a North Tolsta, and daughter, Mary Martin, who obtained 21b North Tolsta. Both Mary and Duncan had lived as cottars with their families on 21 North Tolsta prior to the crofts being split.

The crofts remained split for some time, but were re-merged by John Murray. John inherited 21b North Tolsta and purchased 21a North Tolsta from John Murdo Martin of 34 North Street, Sandwick. The exact year of the re-merging is not certain.

In due course John Murray passed on 21 North Tolsta to his youngest daughter.

Murdo Murray and Christina Macdonald obtained a feued off section of 21 North Tolsta and they re-named this 21 Eastview.
