1 Tabost
The first tenant of 1 Habost was John Macleod (1810-1850) from Kershader. After his death the croft was allocated to Murdo Mackenzie (1826-1901) Murchadh Dhòmhnaill Choinnich from 4 Habost and he passed 1 Habost to his son, Kenneth Mackenzie (1854-1916) Coinneach Mhurchaidh Dhòmhnaill who was a Merchant and had a shop at 1 Habost. His sister, Mrs Catherine Montgomery was widowed in 1917 and returned to 1 Habost with her children. The family later moved to Stornoway.
1 Habost was sold to Alexander Macdonald (1851-1928) Alasdair Sheumais Chaluim from 9 Habost and he passed 1 Habost to his son, Murdo Macdonald (1904-1976) Murchadh Alasdair Sheumais.
Until January 2007 there was a prominent building at 1 Habost, the ruin of Jimmy Tod's house, which incorporated a slaughter house, shop, weaving shed with four looms, and a garage for his bus. Originally the house was built by the Mackenzies, Clan Mhurchaid Ruaidh, Kenneth and James.
