Catherine (1850-1938) was a daughter of John Macphail and Catherine Macneil, 27 Upper Carloway. Her mother died in 1853 and her father married Ann Macarthur, 12 Borrowston.
Her younger brother, John emigrated to Canada in 1871 and Catherine emigrated in 1873.
Catherine married William Bell, Bruce County Ontario and formerly of County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Catherine and William settled at Bruce County and they had 8 children.
Catherine was widowed in 1922. They are both buried in Ripley Huron Cemetery in Bruce County.
