Iain Iain Iain Thormoid
John (1853-1940) was a son of John Macphail and Catherine Macneil, 27 Upper Carloway. His mother died in 1853 and his father was married in December 1853 to Ann Macarthur 12 Borrowston.
In 1871, aged 18, he emigrated to Canada and settled in Bruce County, Ontario. His older sister, Catherine emigrated in 1873 and she also settled in Bruce County.
John married Henrietta Murray, Bruce County, in 1881. The couple settled in Bruce County and they had seven children. In 1911 the family were living in Vancouver.
