James (born 1853) was a son of John Hunter and Janet Dickson, Gress Farm. The following year the family moved to Arnish Farm then Galson Farm and finally to Upper Coll Tack ( Coll Farm). His mother died in 1872 and in 1874 his father married Mary Latta Houston.
