Donald (born 1801) was the son of Malcolm Macleod. He was married to Isabella Macleod and they lived at 6 Valtos. The couple had eight children.
This family, apart from son, Donald, left Lewis on the Paddle Steamer the Marquis of Stafford on 19th May 1851 to the Clyde where they embarked on a larger ship to Canada.
The family settled in Bruce County, Ontario.
He is probably the Donald Macleod who was a witness for the pursuer at the second hearing of the Lewis/Harris boundary dispute in 1850.
