Mary (born 1877) was a daughter of John Macleod and Annabella Macrae, 2/4 Kershader.
At Partick, Glasgow, in 1900, she married Donald Macdonald from Laxay. Mary and Donald lived at 2/4 Kershader and they had six children, four of whom died, three in the Second World War. The Macdonald's strong Christian faith helped to deal with their loss.
Mary was an unusually intelligent and devout Christian lady and was an accomplished Bardess with many spiritual compositions to her name.
