John (1904-1986) was a son of John Kennedy and Isabella Macleod, 4 Cromore. He was brought up by his aunts, Barbara and Johanna as his mother was ill and she died in 1906. He was a Fisherman on the Dove which was owned by my father and brother, Alexander.
John emigrated to Canada on 24 April 1924 and his first job was sailing from Port Colborne and Thunder Bay, Ontario on the Glenlyon, He then sailed on Chippewa sailing between Toronto and Niagara. John moved to British Columbia and worked on the Kuskanook and the Mayie sailing between Kooteney Landing and Nelson.
He came home in 1932 and when his father retired that year John became skipper of the Kilravoch Castle
At Lochalsh, in 1934, he married Christina Macleod, 24 Cromore. John and Christina settled at 4 Cromore where they had three of their four children.
In the early 1940s John sold the croft to Alexander Macleod, 14 Cromore and the family moved to Ardersier, Inverness-shire. They later moved to 72 Oldtown Road, Inverness.
John, Christina and their son, John are buried at Ardersier Parish Churchyard.
