Donald (1828-1878) was the son of Murdo Mackenzie and Margaret Macrae. In 1833 the family obtained 8 Old South Tolsta but left in 1834 to become cottars in Old Back. In 1851 the family obtained 46 Back and settled there.
Donald married Henrietta Murray of 15 Old Back. The couple settled at 46 Back and they had seven children.
