95311: Murdo Mackenzie

Murdo (1784-1865) was the son of John Mackenzie. He lived in Gress Tack, but it is not certain he was born there.

Murdo married Margaret Macrae, of Gress Tack, but it is not known where the couple settled and where their eight children were born.

In 1833 the family obtained 8 Old South Tolsta, little is known about the previous occupant John Graham. The family only stayed until 1834, when they left to become cottars in Old Back.

In 1851 the family obtained 46 Back and settled there; 8 Old South Tolsta passed to Murdo Maciver. In due course 46 Back passed to their son, Donald.
