Mary was the daughter of Donald Macleod and Mary Macleod of 3 New Street, Back. In 1922 the family obtained 20 Gress.

She married Donald Macaulay of 7 Gress, a widower with five children. Mary and Donald settled at  7 Gress. 

Mary was widowed and she returned to 20 Gress to lived with her unmarried siblings.
